The Listening Centre (TLC) is a counselling service for Blackbird Leys and Oxford.

It is a registered charity (No. 1098571) and aims to provide a low-cost service for local people.

It is staffed by volunteers who are either qualified or in training. All have supervision and the service is professional and confidential.

We are happy to respond to any enquiries you may have about the service. We do have a waiting list for clients, as our present resources do not allow us to offer immediate appointments.

If you feel that seeing a counsellor might be of benefit to you, then please contact us on 01865 794 794 - we will take basic details from you, and discuss with you what you are looking for from counselling. Although there is usually a waiting list, we aim to set up an initial appointment within 6-8 weeks of someone contacting the service.

The purpose of this meeting is for you and your counsellor to decide whether you both feel comfortable working together. Your counsellor will also discuss the boundaries regarding payment, missed sessions and confidentiality.

After this initial session, a further number of meetings will be agreed, with a review towards the end of that period.

If we are not able to work with someone, we will attempt to assist by providing – wherever possible – details of other therapists and agencies to contact.

Confidentiality and ethics

All information disclosed to us is treated as confidential, within certain clearly defined limits. Your counsellor will discuss these with you when you meet.

All TLC counsellors receive regular supervision, and adhere to the code of ethics and practice set out by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

We can offer counselling sessions for up to 6 months.

Fundraising Latest:

We collected over £1200 in donations at the Radley College production of "Les Miserables" - the first opportunity to use our new display stands.
